Mandolin and Guitar (Mandoline et guitare)

Mandolin and Guitar is one within a series of nine vibrantly colored still lifes painted from 1924–25; each executed in a bold synthetic cubist style of overlapping and contiguous forms. Through the rounded, organic shapes paired with deep, saturated hues, Picasso successfully conveys his admiration and appreciation of contemporary developments in Surrealist painting; developments that heavily influenced him.
