Portrait of Dora Maar in a Chignon
Here, Picasso depicts his lover and muse, Dora Maar, using drypoint on laid paper. The two met at a café in Paris in 1936 at the Cafe des Margots in Paris, and remained romantically involved until 1943. During this time, Picasso remained involved with another one of his lovers, Marie-Therese Walter, and is said to have made the two women fight with each other.
