Woman with Bangs

Etta Cone purchased this work from the renowned Gertrude Stein after her sister, Claribel Cone, died in 1929. Painted during Picasso’s Blue Period, it portrays a woman with an intense, brooding expression of pain across her face; signifying intense emotional pain perhaps paralleled to Picasso’s own personal suffering.
